LINKS — For Further Consideration

Ten Commandments Here are the top commandments of the Old Testament Law, commonly called “The Ten Commandments,” along with some New Testament verses that may apply to each commandment.  Of course, for Christians, there is a higher commandment that is beyond the ten listed here.

Have No Other Gods Exo 20:2-3 :  2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.  3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
(see also Deu 5:6-7)
1Co 8:4-6 :  4 ... there is none other God but one.  5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)  6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
-2-
Do Not Worship Idols Exo 20:4-6 :  4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:  5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;  6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
(see also Deu 5:8-10)
1Co 10:14 :  Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
1Th 1:9 :  For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
