There are four of them.
They are the pillars
of my belief, the foundation stones that my faith is built on
(mixing architectural metaphors a bit).
They are the evidences that I can call to mind to refocus my conviction.
I can say to myself, “Remember,” and I'm convinced again.
Of course, the analogy of Foundational Pillars can only go so far.
These pillars vary in size and do not carry equal weight.
They are more like a logical progression, a set of conclusions that lead
from the general idea that there is a God to the specific idea
that a certain worldview is correct.
Maybe they should be considered
“lines of thought” or, simply, “faith objects.”
My personal Faith Objects, then, are:
|
|
God — Believing in God is the beginning of all other beliefs. |
|
The Bible — This book, with Christ as its central theme, is God's communication. |
|
|
The Jews — These people, with their book, are proof of God's existence and promises. |
|
The Devil — This created being is another proof of the truth of the Bible. |
