The existence of life on other planets is now considered
likely by a majority of people in the U.S.
Countless movies and TV programs are based on this belief, and, although
they are usually characterized as “science fiction,” the fiction is
often regarded as science fact. Even if the plots and sets may be
outlandish at times, the basic premise, that there is life on other
planets, is a given.
Moving from the belief that there is life on other planets to the belief that life
from outer space is able to visit earth is a natural progression. Though
scientists say it is next to impossible due to the extreme distances in
space, science fiction has taken care of that with warps and jumps and
worm holes. Some believe the outer-space life already visiting the earth
is from another dimension altogether, so the aliens would not be limited
by the physical constraints of time and space.
That's what I believe, too, that the life is from another dimension. But I believe these creatures are based here on earth and are not from other planets. I have a Biblical view of the situation: these creatures are fallen angels. And the creatures are liars and deceivers.
Can you imagine how the world would react to a presentation of spacecraft similar to those at Devil's Tower at the end of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”? Can you imagine how the world would respond to a landing on the White House lawn, televised on CNN? And what if the alien occupants of the spacecraft announced their intention to usher in world peace and provide solutions to the world's problems?
I believe this may be the key element of the “strong delusion,”
the mass deception that will overtake the earth
during the end times (2Th 2:9-11).
It will probably be
mixed in with worship of the Antichrist and his image (Rev 13:14-15). There will
certainly be a religion wrapped around it. And the most appealing
feature for the world at that time? No need for Jesus, God, or judgment.
The two original lies told by the serpent to Eve,
“Ye shall not surely die” (Gen 3:4),
and “Ye shall be as gods” (Gen 3:5),
will be at the heart of the deception.
The arrival of space aliens to earth is a common TV and movie theme. But
more often than not, the outcome is disaster for earth. I think
Hollywood got it right at the end of a well-known Twilight Zone episode:
the book “To Serve Man” has finally been translated — “it's... it's a cookbook!”
