Bible Scheduler
The Bible Scheduler tool will generate a Bible Reading Plan, a
Schedule, for reading the Bible in a single year (Old Testament once, New Testament twice).
Key Features:
-
The schedule can start on any day of the year, not just January 1. The default starting date is Today.
-
The starting date can reference any book and chapter of the Bible (when not Genesis 1 or Matthew 1, the starting date will be recalculated back to Genesis 1 and Matthew 1). The intent is that, if you get off schedule, you can regenerate the schedule from where you left off.
-
The starting year is assumed to be this year unless the current month is December, the starting month is January, and the starting book/chapter is Genesis 1 (in which case the starting year will be next year). You can specify the year to override these decisions.
-
The day of the week (for example, “Mon”) will be displayed for each day's reading, but it can be omitted.
-
The schedule format can be either “Calendar” or “Listing” with three available font sizes.
-
With the Calendar format, the week will start on either Sunday or Monday.
Process Notes:
-
Reading selections always break on chapters.
-
Reading order is straight through the Bible, Genesis through Malachi for the Old Testament (once per year), and Matthew through Revelation for the New Testament (twice per year).
-
One day per year, midway through the year, there is only an Old Testament reading selection. Otherwise there is always a reading selection from both the Old Testament and New Testament.
-
Once every four years, on February 29, there is no reading selection.
-
An attempt is made to balance the reading time from day to day and between the Old and New Testaments.
-
Reading time should be, on average, about 15 minutes a day.
Printing Tips:
-
Generate the schedule with the Calendar format and a Small font.
-
Select your browser's Print Preview option.
-
In Internet Explorer, adjust the top and bottom margins until 26 weeks appear on the first page and the number of pages is reduced from 3 to 2.
-
In Firefox, go into Page Setup and adjust the scale to 98%, reducing the number of pages from 3 to 2. You could also adjust the top and bottom margins if you'd like.
-
In Safari, go into Page Setup and adjust the top and bottom margins to something like .8, reducing the number of pages from 3 to 2.
-
Then print the 2 pages on a single sheet, back to back.
-
Cut the excess right and left margins.
-
You'll end up with a handy single-sheet reading schedule that will fit nicely in any Bible.
